통상적으로 예전에 치아 전체를 촬영하기 위해 가장 많이 사용했던 방사선 사진은 필름을 입안에 넣고 찍은 치근단 사진을 가장 많이 사용했다. 허나 치근단 사진은 치아 2∼5개 정도만 촬영할 수밖에 없어 요즘에는 전체 치아를 한 번에 찍을 수 있는 파노라마 사진을 더욱 많이 찍는다.
